LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – Young patients at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchock have a new way to get around the hallways.
The “Shogo” is an electric vehicle for kids designed by Honda engineers and intended to help ease the stress of being in a hospital.
The hospital sees some of the region’s sickest patients and officials say the new car fits with CHAD’s child-life programming, offering kids emotional support. “Kids learn through play, so having an amazing resource like this Honda car to have another modality to cope — and reduced anxiety — makes the experience more positive, have a positive thing to look forward to and use during their stay here at the hospital,” said DHMC’s Jen Rupp.
Honda donated the cars to around a dozen children’s hospitals across the country but Dartmouth is New England’s first.
