RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A new mural in downtown Rutland honors the community’s elders.
The Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging calls the new mural at the Vermont Farmers Food Center a tribute to older community members who have helped shape the city.
It was created by local artist Colleen Wilcox, who said it’s one of the largest projects she’s undertaken. “I hope that the color really just brightens their day and that they really connect with one of the stories, or many of the stories, that are in this mural and feel like their perspectives have been related in this art,” Wilcox said.
It’s the eighth piece of artwork at the food center and comes just a few weeks before the start of their winter farmers market.
