RYEGATE, Vt. (WCAX) – The FBI is investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting in the Northeast Kingdom that involved an alleged assault on a U.S. Marshal.
Authorities say it happened around 1 p.m. when a pursuit began in New Hampshire and ended along Route 5 in Ryegate, Vermont.
Vermont State Police say they were not involved in the chase and that the FBI is taking over the investigation.
There were no other immediate details on who was shot, the extent of their injuries, or what caused the incident. Authorities say one person is in custody and that there is no threat to the public.
