Pittsford haunted house raises money for fire department

PITTSFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – Thousands travel to Pittsford each Halloween for one of the oldest haunted houses right in Pittsford town.

The 41st annual fundraiser for the Pittsford Fire Department is one of the most popular and oldest haunted houses in Vermont. People from all over the area wait in line just to be scared thanks to the help of over 100 volunteers.

The old house near the towns office was once a children’s hospital. Now, volunteers keep making sure the spooky tradition keeps coming back and look forward to the bond they create.

“It can be challenging, but its absolutely worth it cause there’s a lot for people who I don’t see outside of here even though they still live right in town, but you come back the next year and its just like running into family again… It’s a very good thing for the community, its a good thing for the people who come up and help, and we just want to come up and scare you,” said Kevin Carleton of Pittsford.

The final night of the haunted house is Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children.
