Saranac Lake brewery kicks off turkey trot fundraiser

SARANAC LAKE, NY. (WCAX) – Fundraising is underway for a Saranac Lake brewery’s tenth annual turkey trot fundraiser, with a goal of raising 100 thousand dollars by Thanksgiving Day.

Bitters and Bones has been raising funds every November since it opened in 2015, supporting the Saranac Lake Interfaith Food Shelf and Student Needs Fund.

The Saranac Lake Turkey Trot fundraiser accepts donations but also encourages running. A sponsor would donate an amount for every mile a participant runs until November 28.

“The community just rallies and gives so generously. It does become difficult asking folks to give up their hard-earned money, but you’re reminded again and again that folks just are so community-oriented and look forward to standing up year after year and supporting the community.” John Williams, a Bitters and Bones co-owner said.

On Thanksgiving Day participants run a 5k around town, and return to the brewery for a feast and an auction.
