BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas has won a second term.
Democrat Copeland Hanzas prevailed over Republican challenger H. Brooke Paige.
She said Tuesday night that it’s all about teamwork.
“You made tonight possible. You made this victory possible. you made campaigns up and down the ballot possible because of the work that you did. We can’t do it without you. So thank you so much for getting out there and working for the candidate of your choice,” Copeland Hanzas said.
The Democrat says she wants to focus on civics education, investing in new IT systems, and expanding access to voting.
Perennial Republican placeholder candidate H. Brooke Paige was running for both secretary of state and auditor and lost both races.
