Resorts fire up snow-making machines

KILLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Dropping temperatures this week means ski mountains are starting to prepare for the upcoming winter season.

Killington resort started up around 250 snowmaking guns overnight for the first time this season which they say is the most they’ve ever run at once.

The ski resort plans to add one thousand new pieces of snowmaking equipment over the next two years an over seven million dollar investment.

Brooke Geery with the resorts says it’s a day they’ve been planning out for months.

“It’s hard when its 70 degrees in November, and you’re like ok lets get winter started um so the temps dropped last night are team has been you know preparing for this we actually have done a few tests already so to have the guns roaring as they come in this morning it just feels great,” said Geery, Killington Resort Marketing Specialist.

The resort says they will still be very busy preparing for the Steifel Cup set to hit the slopes at the end of November.
