Quick stop clerk who was robbed now charged with assaulting suspects

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a clerk who was robbed in a convenience store stickup now faces charges of assaulting the suspects.

Investigators say Domonic Ali-Koarti, 34, was behind the counter at the Shell Station on Williston Road in South Burlington last week when two juveniles robbed the store at gunpoint.

South Burlington police say Ali-Koarti told them that after he handed over the cash, he followed the suspects outside. He said he thought he saw two muzzle flashes and believed the robbers were shooting at him, so he pulled out his personal gun and fired several shots at them.

The juveniles told police they were only trying to get away.

Ali-Koarti now faces charges of aggravated assault.

The juvenile suspects have been cited for assault and robbery.
