CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) – New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu says he is focused on a smooth transition during his last month in office.
Gov. Sununu will be leaving the Governor’s office in Concord with high approval ratings after he finishes out his fourth term.
Friend and political ally Kelly Ayotte will be taking over the Governor’s office after winning November’s election by more than 9% of the vote.
Sununu endorsed Ayotte in the Republican primary and campaigned for her during the general election.
He says his priority is to make sure she hits the ground running.
“The number one priority is transition,” Gov. Sununu said. “Making sure the new administration understands some of the key issues happening. They can build their staff but hit the ground running, especially in the budget process and get the legislative process off smoothly.”
When Governor-Elect Ayotte is sworn into office next month, she will be one of 13 female Governors across the country, which is a new record high.
Channel 3 News will be sitting down with Gov. Sununu in the coming weeks to look back at his eight-years in office.
