Salvation Army volunteer keeps ringing bell despite cold

SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) – Even in these chilling temperatures, some people are still ringing in good cheer.

Salvation Army volunteer David Foss stood outside the Price Chopper in Shelburne for six hours straight Saturday.

Foss runs the nonprofit’s food shelf and, has received help from the charity himself.

He says he doesn’t mind standing outside because he believes in the cause.

“Doesn’t bother me, I love it. I’m sure people have decided in the past that it’s too cold and probably don’t come back, But something like this, I think, people really enjoy causes like this, so they’ll do whatever – I’ll do whatever it takes to get it done,” Foss said.

Foss has been a bell-ringer for a month, and will continue until Christmas Eve.
