BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a phony fire inspector.
The Vermont Division of Fire Safety says a person has been visiting local businesses claiming to be a fire marshal. The impersonator will claim there are code violations with kitchen equipment and then charge the business for the service or threaten citations.
Officials remind business owners to always ask for photo identification.
Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
