MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Thursday night marks night two of Hanukkah and the statehouse is gearing up to keep the party going.
This year the first day of Hanukkah and Christmas overlapped. Now leaders in Montpelier are celebrating the 8-day Jewish holiday.
Thursday afternoon, Governor Phil Scott will host the statehouse annual menorah lighting.
Rabbi Eliyahu Junik will lead the ceremony on the statehouse lawn accompanied by live music.
After the ceremony, traditional Hanukkah foods like latkes are served inside while people can play dreidel.
Governor Scott will also read a Hanukkah story to children.
The event starts at 4:30 on the statehouse lawn. The public is invited to attend and join the festivities.
