MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont election officials are celebrating a push for voter education.
This fall, Vermont’s Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas launched Vermont’s first online voter guide. The website has descriptions of each race, candidates, their contact information, and details for voters on how and where to vote.
Copeland Hanzas says over 50,000 unique Vermonters visited the website, and says it was a critical tool to engage voters.
She adds that this, and universal vote by mail gives Vermonters ample time to research candidates.
“Not only does having a ballot on your kitchen table for several weeks before the election, but by having the voter guide gives you the information needed to vet the candidates,” said Copeland Hanzas.
She says her office is planning on asking state lawmakers for funding to print and distribute physical copies to each Vermont household.
