Northeast Kingdom town asks artists to design new welcome signs

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A Northeast Kingdom town has asked artists for help designing a new welcome sign.

Community members let the Town of St. Johnsbury know they want new signs welcoming people to town. The current ones have been in place since the early 2000’s and are starting to show their age.

The organization, Discover St. Johnsbury has taken over the project which is expected to cost about $6,000.

“We are probably leaning more towards classic welcome to your town signs. But things that celebrate our creativity and where we are right now as a community are something we are looking into as well,” said Gillian Sewake of Discover St. Johnsbury.

The deadline has now passed for artists to be considered. A decision will likely be made in the next couple weeks.
