ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Diabetic New Yorkers could see insulin prices go down.
That’s due to a new law from Governor Kathy Hochul which removes insulin co-pays on state-regulated health plans.
She says people with diabetes shouldn’t have to decide between life-saving medicine and other necessities.
“Now, for you, that’s about $1,200 more in your pockets every year and more medicine in your medicine cabinet as well. That’s what we’re talking about. More money back in your pockets,” she said.
It’s one of three bills that took effect this year focused on New Yorkers’ wallets. We told you last week that the New York minimum wage went up 50 cents, and that expecting mothers can now get 20 hours of paid time off for pre-natal care.
