NY rideshare drivers urged to file claims for Uber, Lyft settlement funds

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Rideshare drivers in New York who believe they were underpaid by Uber or Lyft could share in a multimillion-dollar settlement.

New York Attorney General Letitia James says drivers should file a claim as soon as possible to get any funds they are due from the $328 million back payment settlement. The deadline to file has been extended to Jan. 31.

An investigation by the attorney general’s office found Uber and Lyft withheld funds from drivers and failed to provide benefits.

“Rideshare drivers help keep New York moving and deserve full and fair compensation for their hard work,” James, D-New York Attorney General, said in a statement. “My office will always fight to ensure workers in New York receive the treatment, benefits and wages they are due.”

More than 100,000 rideshare drivers in New York are eligible for settlement funds and benefits. Click here to check your eligibility or to file a claim.
