Quebec reports 1st rabid raccoon in decades

SAINT-ARMAND, Quebec (WCAX) – A dead raccoon found in Quebec near the Vermont border has tested positive for rabies, the first report in the province in a decade.

The CBC reports that the raccoon was found on December 17 in Saint-Armand, less than a mile from Highgate, where another case was discovered last month.

Residents near the border are urged to report any animals that seem disoriented and keep pets’ vaccinations up to date.
