BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – With bitterly cold weather in the forecast for next week, the city of Burlington plans to activate its cold weather emergency shelter.
The shelter will be open on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Miller Center at 130 Gosse Court in the city’s New North End from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m.
The National Weather Service is forecasting evening temperatures diving below zero with windchill on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and into the early morning hours of Thursday.
The mayor’s office says they are also monitoring the weather for Monday, Jan. 20, but at this time they do not believe the weather will meet the threshold for the city’s extreme cold weather shelter operation.
