Teen skiers rescued in Stowe

STOWE, Vt. (WCAX) – Stowe Mountain Rescue says they rescued teenagers who were backcountry skiing on Tuesday night.

According to their post on Facebook, Stowe Mountain Rescue located three teenage boys who got lost near Spruce Peak.

They say the boys were stuck on an icy cliff bend in the dark. They were lowered down one by one and returned to safety at Barnes Camp.

After a rescue, the team says they conduct an ‘After Action Review’ to reflect on what happened. They said the teens started late in the day, didn’t have headlamps, had insufficient clothing, and had a dead cell phone.

“Every misadventure results in lessons learned,” Stowe Mountain Rescue said in their post.
