LUDLOW, Vt. (WCAX) – People in Ludlow once again have a supermarket to shop at this winter.
The Shaw’s supermarket in downtown Ludlow was significantly damaged during summer flooding two years ago.
It took almost a year for the supermarket to get back on its feet, reopening this past summer.
This is the first winter since the flooding that the store is selling groceries to locals and the all-important skiing crowd.
“Oh, it’s extremely important. I mean, how can you not have a grocery store? Having it back in town where it is near to everything, central, it’s just huge,” said Michael Noone of Ludlow.
The supermarket now has a bigger footprint, as well. It expanded into the Rite Aid space next door which closed due to flooding and did not reopen.
